- There are two groups in the fishing taking place in the South of the Gulf of St. Lawrence: Group A and Group B.
- Group A is composed of fishermen from Newfoundland and Quebec. They have access to 75% of the TAC in the Esquiman Channel.
- Group B is composed of fishermen from Quebec and New Brunswick, including First Nations.
- Each fishing enterprise holds permanent individual transferable quotas.
