- Mid-shore shrimp fishing on the Atlantic coast of Canada is focused on two stocks: the Gulf stock and the Scotian Shelf stock.
- In the South of the Gulf of St. Lawrence, fishing takes place in four main banks bounded by precise zones. These four banks are the Sept-Îles bank, the Anticosti bank located around the island of the same name, the Esquiman bank, located off the coast of Newfoundland and the Estuaire Bank located in the mouth of the St. Lawrence River.
- Unlike the stock in the South of the Gulf, the stock in the Scotian Shelf is not subdivided into banks. Fishing takes place off southeast Nova Scotia, mainly in the deep pools of Louisbourg, Misaine and Canso.
